I passed by here yesterday (in a car) and there was a big hole in the ground.
Place Valois across the street looks great. It was packed with people on a warm Saturday evening.

this is going up a lot more quickly than the EV building.

Montréal compte 40000 Chinois, une petite fraction du million de personnes originaires de l'Empire du Milieu qui vivent au Canada.
Why is it that so many journalists and writers have no clue how to verify demographic information? I was reading the new edition of the Rough Guide to Montreal the other day and it claimed that Montreal's Chinese population is 20,000. The NOW Guide to Toronto claims that Toronto has 300,000 Chinese people and 600,000 Italian people. I'm beginning to think they just make numbers up.
In reality, the 2001 census pegged the number of Chinese in Montreal at 52,000. Considering the high rate of immigration over the past few years and the fact that the census tends to undercount ethnic communities, the current number is probably around 75,000 or more.
(In Toronto, the Chinese and Italian populations were both about the same size in 2001: around 450,000. I have no idea how NOW came up with 600,000 for the Italian community.)
So where do all of these other numbers come from?

Mind you, what did you submit ?
I didn't submit anything, their photo intern saw my photos on Flickr and asked if I had anything of Prince Arthur. I showed them everything I had but the photo editor never got back to me.
None of my photos of Prince Arthur are very impressive, though, and they were very unclear about what they wanted.

Maxim actually contacted me to buy some photos of "Prince Street." I corrected them (they obviously wanted Prince Arthur) but it looks like it fell on deaf ears. I guess they didn't like my photos, either.

PS: Est-ce que quelqu'un sait pourquoi SRC a un aussi gros terrain ?
c'était la mode des années 60... un quartier entier (population : 3000) a été détruit pour la SRC!

I think this is a very innovative project, especially when you consider it with Place Valois across the street. It maintains the scale of the neighbourhood while moving away from the rigid linearity of the Ontario Street shopping district.
