So for this new section announced, REM would be taking over the CN right of way, does elevated make sense, or would at grade make more sense or even cut? Otherwise just a different group of people could be upset now.

SkyTrain goes below downtown Vancouver, both cut-and-cover as well as bored tunnel. Similarly, there are no elevated trains in Manhattan.
That's true, the most equivalent would be Bangkok Skytrain, which goes through their downtown with tall buildings, and it goes down a boulevard as well.

This has also been discussed. Beyond the technical problems that would pose in front of Gare Centrale, there's absolutely no way that anybody would tolerate an elevated structure in front of the St-Mary Cathedral. There's also the fact that the only way to exit the René-Lévesque alignment while elevated is through the Ernest Cormier Esplanade. Talk about getting the Nimby riled up! A tunnel is truly the only viable option if we want to continue further west.
Hopefully then if they do plan a tunnel, they plan for an "easy" expansion under Gare Centrale tracks and not just up to the tracks

This might be controversial, but I feel having it elevated in downtown would mean it would be easier to expand west to fulfill what was proposed somewhat with the pink line. If it goes underground, it would end at the tracks from Gare Centrale preventing future expansion, unless they went under it which would be more expensive. I do hope if it is elevated downtown it should be more attractive.

je ne suis pas en construction, donc c'est juste toutes les suppositions
As you can see French isn’t my first language, how did the translation software even come up with this haha

So hopefully July opening? Also based on their earlier plans, the All Modes AB Monthly Unlimited should cost around $144, which isn't too bad when compared to the current cost of Unlimited that's only for zones AB and C, $180. I'm curious on if REM will support cards with tap like Apple Pay or Google Pay though because they're installing new machines so no excuse...

The overhead line system is installed from Mill to IDS?
Yes, it is! To the left of the photo of the beams from a few days ago that I posted you can see the end part of the overhead line. Also I have this photo that's from the bridge on Bonaventure Highway that's harder to see but I noticed the cables started from Île-des-Sœurs Station

Yeah, unfortunately we learned this last week. They must have been pretty far along in the studies, because the last time Craig Sauvé mentioned the plan they were still basing the costs on $10M per station, and at last week's announcement they mentioned a cost closer to $568M for the orange line's 31 stations, almost double.
I actually asked this last weekend and they responded on Monday. Just curious, where did you hear about the project being canceled?

The last beams won’t even be installed in January it seems, then the deck has still to be formed and poured, then force-cured under a tarp, before the rails and the rest of the system infra can be completed. I’d be surprised if run-in tests on the Panama-Centrale leg get going before summer.
They just installed the last beams overnight, if you look on the live camera you can see and compare

Station Griffintown – Bernard-Landry - Discussion

Peut-être parce qu'ils construiront la gare sur une voie ferroviaire active par rapport à une nouvelle voie sans trains ? Ils ne peuvent donc le faire que pendant la nuit pour une partie du travail. 🤷♂️
