Valerie has gotten officially bonkers. Try to propose in Paris to put traffic lights on the Boul Périphérique, or the 620 in Toulouse, or the R20 in Brussels, the R2 in Antwerp, the A12 in The Hague or the S116 in Amsterdam-North and the population would just revolt.

I don't understand how our mayor, which wants to be so much like Europe, keeps on thinking that removing highways will remove cars. It won't. It will just cause more traffic congestion, which will cause more impatience, which - in turn - lead to more road rage.

The same is happening already with the pilot projects of the Voie Camillien-Houde, which sees a lot less traffic than the Bonaventure highway, which sees a lot more road rage on Bd Édouard-Montpetit and the surroundings. Commuters are used to leave at X time from home, so if they're no longer getting in time to their destination, it will take a lot of time for them to adjust and that period will come with a lot of frustration and impatience.

Being a metropole comes with accepting that there will be highways and that they're not always pretty. Either put the traffic in a tunnel if she really wants to make a fuzzy-feeling place next to the river. Otherwise: stop complaining.

100% don't agree. Making the Bonaventure into a boulevard is a great idea. If only we could demolish the metropolitain and remplace it with a boulevard as well. Dig a tunnel underneath and allow high speed through traffic, but keep the surface as a boulevard for local traffic.

I don't remember ever being able to buy "multiple tickets", unless you mean the "fares" option which it asks you immediately after,  that was still there yesterday

Yea the "security guards" are not checking anything, they're clueless.  No one is enforcing anything yet

Yes, I mean multiple fares. I was buying 3, for my wife, mother and myself. I had to do it three times. The ticket agent acknowledged it was the only way. Waste of time.

  3. The dumbest thing ever is you cannot purchase multiple tickets. I had to make 3 separate transactions in order to buy 3 tickets. One of the reasons why the line to buy tickets are so long. What makes it even dumber is the system to purchase tickets is the same as the metro, but they somehow decided to remove the option to purchase multiple tickets. Epic fail.

  4. I lived about a 2 minute walk from this park for 10 years, and it was cool to see the evolution.
While it is not a busy park, there are always people jogging, walking and cycling around.
I loved having this park next to my home and like what has been going on with it.
It's had to put into perspective how big this park actually is if you haven never been to it. It's absolutely enormous.

I guess you are referring to McGill Uni (because UQAM and Concordia will be two transfers away, with the Blue and then Orange line). So for McGill, you'll be two transfers away with the REM (blue line and then REM to McGill station, which is probably quicker than bus + green line).

Reread what I wrote.  I meant Concordia, and everything I said was correct

  7. I grew up in Saint Leonard and went to university downtown. I used to take the Lacordaire bus to Cadillac metro to go downtown. Why would anyone from Saint Leo not continue doing this route, even with the blue line? The way I see it, doing it that way means one transfer, whereas, using the blue line means 2 transfers.

I have no doubt this extension will bring more people to the Orange line. However, I just wanted to point out that perhaps many people will just continue taking the bus to the Green.

  8. Je ne sais pas pourquoi ca chiale. Il y a en masse de stationnement sous terrain. 2 etages meme. Il y a meme deux ascenseurs. I would get rid of ALL the above ground parking and expand the market.
