Violent crime up 11.5% in 2023
Homicides in 2024 up 113% YoY.. for reference, all major American cities are down 20-40%, with Boston down 83%!
Chinatown is a disgrace and the city/police are doing nothing.... opening up a safe drug site in front of a ln elementary school? Diabolical...
Montreal is acting like an American city now. We need zero tolerance folks in power, no more of this sissy left wing "cohabitation". No more.

^Riiiight......
Anyways, Palamosa this year is expecting 30-40K this year. L'appel Montreal is a one off, but maybe if it's successful, it can be a yearly thing.

We're still a few years away from the next upswing. BOC policy rate has to come down at least 100 bps. 150 - 200 bps and we'll be in good shape.
Pieces are there for a boom, but agreed with your points as well. These towers won't start right away, but just announcing confidence will spur more development and investments.

Exactly and the same in 2019. REM helped with that and is continuing to help.

All it took was 750 Peel phase 1 to kick off the next boom. Now we have three 200M towers proposed, with the possibility of another three in the area to be built.
Factor in all the other developments around, I think we might be in for an intense upswing. We're 5 years behind, we have to catch-up now.

16 homicides so far in the city vs 9 at this time last year... what the hell is going on here?
Every American city is seeing a sharp decline, meanwhile we're seeing a steep increase.

Damn, and to think I told the forum this in November of last year lol...

Yet another building that doesn't have any light features on (in this case, anymore). Between this, Solstice, YUL, L'avenue, all the TDC's... they really need some lights installed on their buildings. Need our downtown to look more dynamic at night, not sleepy.
