I don't understand why this project is being built here, I thought the YUL project was going to take up the whole block. Is YUL still going to build twin towers with the Holiday Inn tower sitting right next to it? This seems rather poorly planned.
-
Is it just me or has construction on this tower really slowed down? It seems like each new floor takes forever and maybe one window get installed per week. Or maybe I would just really like to see the finished product!
-
I don't get it, I thought Ogilvy's had been trying to buy-out Wanda's forever for their huge development and now some random condo developer is going to get the site and build some ugly tower instead?
-
Why is this still in the Approved section and not Under Construction? Nice little project in any case, definitely a solid addition to the area.
-
All that grey brick looks terrible! So cheap... They really ruined what could have been a great project. They should have at least kept the darker colour like in the renders or used more brown brick to keep the 'vintage' look.
-
Lol they've already been ''re-upholstered'' as part of a rock-climbing center. (though you don't climb up them).
Besides, how would one go about safely demolishing these? Serious question, I'm pretty curious given than it's a big drum made of cement and it's smack in the middle of a highly populated area.
I'm sure more complicated demolitions than this have been accomplished without any problems, you just have them implode and collapse in on themselves. The only problem would be a huge dust cloud but even that would be a relatively minor inconvenience.

That mobile crane at the far back was on Bishop street doing work at Concordia. Anyone knows what for?
Its installing new air ventilation units on the roof.

I wonder if those graffiti covered silos will be demolished eventually.

Are there any updates on this project, units sold, start of construction?

That giant black wall really adds a lot to the skyline doesn't it? Beautiful modern architecture, harmonious with its surroundings, yup a real masterpiece for Montreal.

The same problem with all the Griffintown condos...

Student housing does not fit with this property AT ALL...Its a long, uphill walk to McGill and Concordia and being right on the border of Old Montreal and Downtown its perfectly positioned to be a prestige property that attracts business clientele and tourists not frat parties and low-income students (of which i'm one). The building should be renovated top to bottom and remain a hotel with improved services and attractions. This is really poor planning all around.

I'm really glad this was cancelled, I think they need o tear down the whole site and start from scratch rather than preserve a tacky, 60s-era revolving restaurant. If that's what counts as heritage these days then I think we need to rethink what it means.
-
This must be a joke...what other major metropolitan area in North America would build this in the middle of their downtown area? This would be great in LaSalle or Ville St. Laurent, not on MacKay!
-
Half way to the top! Amazing project...
-
I thought that the Jardins Babylone towers were the latest incarnation of this project...are they actually different ones?
-
Well, not exactly big on originality, style or colour, but i guess its better than what was there.

The website seems to have shut down...

I certainly hope this is what eventually happens, I'm so tired of great tower projects in Montreal being forced to share space with tiny buildings that aren't worth preserving. First the Queu du Cheval building for the Icone project, then Wanda's with Ogilvy's and now these ugly buildings for the QdS tower...
-
Is it too late for a miracle to happen and Wanda's closes? Just pisses me off so much that this strip club would stand in the way of such a great project.
-
I'd hate to have that second floor corner apt. I hope the city is going to bury those power lines soon, or else the residents will be lulled to sleep by the hum of the wires right outside their windows...
-
Any word on whether Wanda's will give up and accept a buy-out offer?

I took these shots with my phone while I was at the Canadiens game this afternoon...
Place Bonaventure

I think they really need to come up with a global plan for the building. This gradual, piecemeal replacement of concrete with windows makes Place Bonaventure look even worse.
