If that doesn't convince certain people that graffiti can be art, nothing will.
-
For a while I never thought they would get this far.
-
I'm glad they are building it but it just looks like any other glass and steel skyscraper. Where is the classic look of the previous designs?
-
Its great when a summer movie makes you think as well as watch in awe at the same time. Great film
-
Great design, hope they're serious about building it.
-
What are they gonna do with the rest of the vacant space?
-
Incredible! That really improves the area much more than some oversized skyscraper in its place.
-
I never get tired of seeing the skyline, good collections of photos.
-
The interior is decent but lacks personality. But overall I'm hopeful about the project.

The biggest difference between To and miami is that people are actually living in thes condos. They aren't buying them to turn around and sell them immediately after in hopes of making a quick buck! Not to mention, Miami's boom seemed a little fake to me, whereas Toronto has been adding 1 million people per deacede to its overall population. You have to find places for all these newcomers to live.
Imagine. 1 million people every ten years!!! Impressive!
We have a hard time adding 250,000 people every decade!
Theres nothing wrong with growth in the population, the only thing is we don't want to be overcrowded and many problems arise from that. But I don't think Montreal is in danger of becoming Mumbai:relieved:

I don't think a downtown stadium would have helped much either. In fact, I think this accepted notion of downtown stadiums (not just in MTL but everywhere) is what has hurt the game in some cities and killed it in others. The Expos should not have left Jarry Park - a proper, more traditional- facility should have been built there. When baseball's marketing shifted from the inner cities and the "people" to a ghostly downtowns and nothing but a corporate perk, it's fate was sealed. In the case of Jarry Park, it was situated, more or less, in the middle of the city, straddling east and west.
Thats a good point, take Wrigley Field for example; located away from downtown Chicago in a more secluded neighborhood. Most downtown ballpark are less convienient than their more people-friendly counterparts.

Very good pictures:) shows how dense downtown is:goodvibes:

The building that really makes me vomit is La Cite apartments, they look like prison dormitories!
-
There are a lot of apartment buildings that look really Eastern Bloc, hopefully most of them will be renovated.
-
Agreed! SHangri-la as well
Speaking of Shangri-la hasn't Vancouver finished their large story Shangri-La hotel?
-
Wow the LB is growing pretty fast now, I wonder how it will progressed by the jazz festival?
-
Now if only someone would build a Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Montreal !
Decent idea:goodvibes:
-
That's it! Should'nt they dress it up a little bit?
-
This building will hopefully strengthen Montreals' architectural reputation.
-
Is it just me or does the building look too dull?
-
You are probably right, but never say never, look at the Brooklyn Dodgers! A storied franchise in their time and overnight off to L.A.
Nothing in business surprises me especially in this day and age.
In the Brooklin Dodgers case it was city management that got in the way and accidentaly caused the team to move to LA. Montreal city officials would never cause the most storied franchise in hockey, there would be a riot in the streets.

This building is now at 3 stories, so it looks like good progress being made. With warmer temperatures coming things will speed up even more.
That's a good point, this building should see decent progress by May.
-
That's excellent progress, can't wait to see it finished!
-
Glad to see this building almost finished, it wasn't an easy one to build.
