Have you ever stopped to buy a hot dog on the street in New York, Toronto or any other big cities?

When I was in Toronto, I really loved those street vendors! Plus, their hot dogs were amazing! They were really delicious! I wish we had those in Montreal! What about you?

--------

I'm totally in favour of street vendors in Montreal, but my plan would be to do something that even goes further than what is found in New York or Toronto.

I would call it - MONTRÉAL UN - Toute la métropole dans un endroit.

It would be 10'x10' and would consist of food( local and cultural food -because we are an international city), beverages, publications, free publications(including cultural publications),one LCD screen to show ads (like what will eventually show on top of cabs), souvenir clothes (designed, not the canned 'MONTREAL CANADA' type shirts), and retail flyers (New York has Macy's, Toronto has Honest Ed's- I know bad comparison lol -Montreal has three department stores unique to the city). The whole idea of MONTRÉAL UN would be to aggregate the many facets of the city, packed tightly into 100SF on some of the busiest foot traffic locations in and around the downtown core. Think of them as mini-dépanneurs without gum (but maybe they should have candy lol). They could be nicknamed "Dépannettes" instead of "street meat" which sounds lewd, but the official name would be MONTRÉAL UN. The City of Montreal could partner with Couche-Tard (they might be the main sponsor) to have dépannettes all over Montreal and in high foot traffic areas around the metropolis. We could hold architectural competitions to design the dépannettes The idea would be to represent a sample of Montreal to citizens, new immigrants, tourists, business people in for the day and anyone else, so that they capture the vibrancy of the city all in one.

MONTRÉAL UN - Toute la métropole dans un endroit.

Your idea seems interesting.

The St Cat & Atwater spot would be interesting, seeing there is a building in one of the parks that could be used. Plus the students at Dawson and some business types would probably check it out. There is something like this in one of the parks in NY though. I forgot the name

think you might be thinking of bryant park ... it has little shops scattered and book shelves from which you can pick a book to read while in the park .. pretty cool.

I think I know the one you mean.

That's way too big. I was thinking something more mobile.

True, the Shake Shack in NY is like 16 x 16 or 20 x 20. Pretty much double the size of what your specified. It's still a pretty cool concept the Shake Shack. Don'y get me wrong I like your idea also :goodvibes:
