i just hate that parisien had to go ... especially to be replaced by such a bland, boring piece of crap - seemingly yet to be even leased !

 

i've said it before and i'll keep saying it: an IFC theater would've been perfect at that location. sitting at the juncture of the quartier des spectacles and the shopping district, it could've attracted a mix of both crowds. and with the burgeoning condo market nearby (altitude, louis-boheme and even altoria to some extent are all within walking distance of this), i'm sure it wouldve found some new life.

 

of course, that was probably hard to imagine ten years ago, what with the boom of those god awful purple lit 23 screen multiplexes, that completely choked the market and now seem totally outdated..

While the finishings look cheap... this is exactly the type of large, open retail space that is at a premium on Ste Catherine street. How often do we hear about big name retailers, especially international brands, looking for space on this coveted strip and they can't find any? Has Sephora found a spot yet?

id like to see more and more brand stores on ste-catherines .. you know, like an adidas store, or a nokia store .. etc ..

 

prestige type stores that are really more about advertising and promoting a particular brand or company - rather than turning a profit on sales. they aren't really chains, and as such wouldn't be found in every other mall, and ste-catherine could really benefit from such 'exclusivity'.

we already have a Adidas store. A Nike Town and the 1st Uniqlo in Canada would be amazing. But there really aren't any free spaces along st-catherine unless we started kicking out the lower end "independent" shops.

On the same block were the new XXI store will be, there used to be a golf town which was pretty big, that would be the perfect location for a Nike store.

The problem with that location is that it doesn't really allow for a nice store front. Then again if the Nike store is nice enough (We can only hope for something as nice as in narajuku tokyo) Then it would attract people regardless.

Je ne sais pas mais à mon avis, lorsque la rue Ste-Catherine dans le QDS sera completée, il y aura des ''gens'' qui se manifesteront surement. Enfin, on l'espère tous.....
