Centre d'Achat / Shopping Mall

Urbanites want an urban, Sainte-Catherine style, shopping experience, complete with walk along to consecutive and contiguous storefronts lining the street.

 

Suburbanites want the freedom and accessibility of just driving to the mall with their car, parking and going in and finding everything in one place.

 

Why don't we see shopping centres that truly combine both? Obviously, there are malls that kind of do, but i've yet to encounter a mall that fully implements both sides of the coin.

 

So introducing.. my vision for a mall:

 

 

-Not a single exterior surface parking spot.

-The mall is meant to be located in a dense part of a grid patterned city.

-There are wide sidewalks going all around, with stores lining the streets.

-For those who want to park, there are roads leading through the mall, directly into a massive indoor parking garage, which is surrounded by the mall itself.

 

Ta-da! Everybody's happy!

that kind of malls already exists in places like florida

 

shops lining the street, indoor courtyards with more shops, restaurants with terrasses, multistory parking on one end of the mall, even condos in some projects

 

Here's an example

 

2 condo towers, multistory parking, street going through the mall which serves as a drop-off/valet parking, indoor courtyard, the mall is 3 stories high, 2 major anchors (Nieman Marcus and Nordstrom)

Quand je vais au Centre Eaton avec la petite famille, je stationne dans le parking sous-terrain, 6$ pour la journée... tous les centres d'achats au centre ville en ont un.

Stratégie: Le côté Sud de la Rue Ste-Catherine n'a pas de parco, il suffit de se placer spoter le FutureShop (les clients change toujours) pis go la place!

 

Je n'ai jamais payé au centre-ville de parco et j'y vais souvent

donc, ca serait un modele pour un bloc commercial en ville ?

 

j'aimes l'idee d'avoir un stationement au centre comme ca .. ca pourrait etre une facon de regler les problemes de parking comme sur le plateau !
