What is missing in Montréal ?

In your opinion what does the city need what is actually not there?

Young people, we need more young people!

 

I realize that much of the new rules in the city are there because of the old people in power, and old people living in the city.

 

We are going to a stage of conservatism... lower speeds, narrower streets, more police, more rules, ...

 

My thought is rather incomplete, its something I am thinking about over and over.

WE need a more young EDUCATED people.

WE need a MLB Baseball team(with a new Stadium)

We need to invest in our roads and our infrastructure(not to meniton our aqueduct system)

-Better infrastructures

-A beltway around the city

-Respect from the other regions in Quebec for what Montreal brings to all the province.

-More disposable income for its citizens

-More efficiency in its administration

-A big project, a big goal to achieve (the U.N. might have been a good project)

-More sports and cultural infrastructures (concert halls, stadiums, theatres, museums, a new casino (with the exposition hall), etc.)

-More direct flights

-Real High Speed Rail (not a lesser imitation) to New York City, Boston, Toronto and Québec City.

-A "can do" attitude

-A real plan to help (and force if necessary) unemployed and healthy people to get a job

-The completion of le Quartier des spectacles, le Projet du Havre, the 2 hospitals, the new Université de Montréal Outremont campus and all other universities projects

-Maybe a few other recreational and tourist attractions (maybe a water park, a zoo, an aquarium??)

 

...And probably a few more things!

Instead of doing things, even as careless as they might be, older people tend to think over and over and over, never ending... which gives little to no result at the end... thats why projects are really slow to be finalized.

 

The notion of risk associated with a young population is not there anymore.

I've been to many cities cities across North America and I'm a true blue Montrealer praising it (almost to the point of being biased) but it pisses me to no end on how dirty this city really is compared to others.

Also, healthier political climate would strengthen this city bringing in confident investors.

We need people with stronger vision and brass balls!!

Le métro jusqu'à Boucherville, Ste-Thérèse-de-Blainville et Anjou.

Deux corridor TGV : Québec/Windsor et Montréal/New-York.

Un autre à Mirabel et le retour des vols à cet aéroport. Finir la 13 jusque-là.

Terminer les bouts d'autoroute manquants pour que Montréal soit contournable pour les camions.

Plus de parcs, plus d'arbres ; moins de voitures. Plus de ralentisseurs dans les rues.

Le retour des familles dans la ville-centre. Elle se vide au détriment des couples sans enfants. Dès que le couples ont de enfants, ils partent pour la banlieue.

Un monument, un vrai. Quelque chose de franchement distinct, unique, un peu comme l'arche de Saint-Louis. Je veux pas dire un arche mais quelque chose d'aussi distinctif. Un monument qui puisse identifier Montréal dès le premier regard, comme l'opéra de Sydney, la Statue de la Liberté, la tour Eiffel, la tour CN, etc...

Des investissements pour garder notre avance (on l'a encore cette avance ??) dans le domaine culturel. Construire la salle de l'OSM (inviter les plus grands architectes du monde à y participer).
