Brick
Spiter_01
I imagine their intention is to make their facilities at St-Hubert available to ULCC, compared to other markets in Canada we have relatively very little service. Maybe a little branch of a tashereau REM? 1

mont royal
From a consumer perspective, this will give those living south of the island a very viable alternative for domestic or trans-border travel. Likewise for those arriving here for business or pleasure activities in the same area. For those living in l'Estrie for example, a St Hubert departure will be much less of a headache than trying to gauge at what time of day you want to fight the bridge traffic. For the overall regional and metropolitan economy, it should also be helpful. It simply makes more destinations more accessible. It will probably have short to medium term negative impact on numbers at Trudeau. Trudeau will keep its international routes and, for some incoming travelers, accessing international flights via St Hubert might make some sense, especially when Trudeau risks being overcrowded, Overall, I see this as very beneficial to the metropolitan area. 1
SameGuy
Lol 4 million that’s 84 E295 movements a day, fully booked to capacity, 365 days a year. Leblanc 2.0 for sure. 1

Or they're just planning with the future in mind; long term for ADM is 5-years and they're building like it's 2010.
SameGuy
Do you honestly see 4 million people using YHU? With no US customs pre-clearance? No Canada customs presence? I don’t see it. 2
caribb
In the terminal rendering I posted you can see multiple Flair 737s and for some weird reason a Westjet 737 at the gates so this implies they hope to attract those LCC and ULCC airlines which means Flair, Canada Jetlines, Swoop, Lynx and perhaps Rouge’s domestic flights could end up there. I’d say Air Transat too but without the international connectivity I highly doubt it. It might also work for Air Inuit too.. so depending on if it all takes off it has potential to draw in a good handful of airlines which will drive up YHU’s numbers and coincidentally free up gates at YUL for more international flights. They’re also hinting they want to fly internationally which would if granted (and that’s a huge if) Would make it a good hassle free connecting airport to the south for all their incoming domestic flights. a lot has to fall in place and work though.. I wish them success.
YUL
Ideally, it should be coordinated with ADM so we cannibalize less and complement more with YUL. Like shifting LCCs and some charters (A321 and smaller?) to YHU. But we got to ensure that YUL maintains a sufficient "hub" critical mass. (Air Canada has done a great job in the last 10 years) Autrement, tout pourrait s'écrouler comme ça s'est déjà produit en séparant les vols domestique + transfrontaliers à Dorval et les internationaux à Mirabel.
