Government services? Federal Government services? Services that are piad for by TAXPAYERS?? Not right. The BQ proposal seems like a make-work/ stir the pot project more than anything else. Governments should be providing as many minority languages as they can in terms of their services. In LA, the city provides Russian, Farsi, and Korean with the same predominance as English and Spanish.

This kind of measure has nothing to do with preserving the French language. Immigrants are smarter that many people take them for. They aren't confused if they decide to stay in Quebec. They know language is French. They also know that the language of social and economic mobility in the world is English.

This isn't about services being available or not in various languages. In Montreal services are available in both french and english and often in other languages. We have nothing to leaqrn from LA or any other city for that matter.

This is about the right to work in french for the Quebec workers who are working withing the federal institutions. For the moment, to many people are having a hard time working in french in certain, not all, but certain federal agencies therefor if bill 101 would apply then the language of these agencies would make french mandatory which it isn't at this point despite the federal bilingual law.

As we all know, in Quebec, even if french is the official language it doesn't mean english can't work in their languages but it simply imposes the french language in the work environment.

For the english speaking community of Canada they can impose their language because they have the number, because we are next to 300 millions americans and because english is the dominant language of our planet nowadays so the only tool left for the Quebec goverment to impose the french language is by regulating it. It is already being done in some areas but it needs to expand a little more such as the federal agencies, institutions etc...

This is the only way to have a good balance beetwen the french and english language/community in Quebec and especially the greater Montreal area.
