My parents can not stand Old Montreal, anymore and they have been living here since May. They are planning on moving back to the West Island in about 24 months. I told them about prefab homes. My mother was like, those do not work here seeing you need a basement. My father was like you do not need one.

 

So my question is, do you need a basement or can you have something above ground and nothing under?

I've seen some older houses without any.
