Un projet de golf sur l'ile Sainte-Hélène dès 2010?

Ceskberg and Associates is currently developping a new project in Canada, in partnership with the city of Montreal administration. The Club de Golf Le Ste-Helene will be a normal 72 golf course located on the Ste-Helene Island inside the Parc Jean-Drapeau. This beautifull site is located minutes away from downtown Montreal and is a 15 minutes walk from the Montreal Casino, La Ronde amusement park, and the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit, host of the F1 Grand Prix of Canada. If approved before October 2008, it should be ready for opening in the Summer of 2010.

 

The estimated construction costs of $125 million will mainly cover the acquisition of a section of the park, consctruction of the 18 holes, modifications to the Biosphere structure to include a Pro Shop and cantina. This will not interfere with the Environment Museum. Of course, the actual historical vocation of the site will not be altered at all. All existing infrastructures are kept and a large portion of the Park will still be freely available to everyone.

 

Pas sur que j'ai le goût que le privé s'approprie un autre morceau du patrimoine Montréalais. L'idée est pourtant bonne mais questionnable pour des raisons éthique... Si y'a quelque chose qui devrait être intouchable, c'est bien les parcs!

Je ne vois pas de golf sur l'Île Ste-Hélène. C'est un des plus beau parc de Montréal, pas un club privé!

L'Île Sainte-Hélène est un parc, je ne vois pas un golf s'insérer là.

 

Tant qu'à y être, faisons un golf aussi au parc Lafontaine, au Mont-Royal...

Justement, imaginez le nombre d'arbres coupés dans cette zone qui contiendrait environ 9 des 18 trous !!

Même si le golf est public je trouve que c'est innacceptable. Le Challenger va fermer à St-Laurent pour faire des condos et on veut priver la population d'un de ses plus beau parc pour en faire un terrain de jeu pour une minorité? Si on veut davantages de terrains de golf dans la région de Montréal, je n'ai pas de problèmes, mais il y a encore beaucoup de terrains vacants disponibles. De plus, je crois qu'il n'y a pas si longtemps, on disait qu'il y avait trop peu de joueurs pour le nombre de terrains?
