Statistiques YUL 2022

Recommended Posts

You are right, we are definitely on the 3rd spot but Calgary's figures on wiki are not official. YYC didn't publish yet the month of December and their percentage increase could be even lower.

It’s official. It’s just not the exact figure. YYC issued a press release last week saying they had 14.5 million passengers last year.

https://www.yyc.com/News/tabid/91/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/430/YYC-celebrates-145-million-passengers-and-the-most-recovered-Canadian-Airport-in-2022.aspx

i don’t add estimates on wiki, someone else did, but we know it’s 14.5 million.

Vancouver has released their numbers. Montreal still shows the strongest annual increase.

Not only that, but what that YVR number doesn't tell you, is that their international numbers are still trash. As long as China flights remain restricted, YVR won't see it's 2019 numbers.

Back in 2019, YVR and YUL were neck and neck in terms of international (including US) passengers. It was around 13.7 million for YVR vs 13.1 for YUL.

In 2022, YUL handled 10.55 million international passengers, vs YVR's 8.4 million. That is a difference of over 2 million in favor of YUL ! Oh how the wheels have turned !

It's worth noting that even without COVID and the China closure, YUL was on pace to pass YVR slowly but surely, but to go from - 600,000 to + 2 million in 3 years just goes to show how much YVR is dependent on China for it's international passenger numbers.

Thing are hopping. I can’t say much but growth isn’t stopping. We’ll run out of space again soon and the hard stand (outfield) parking program will resume this summer after a three year break. The revised plans for the land-side project will be revealed later this year.

ADM has been using remote parking extensively, even last summer. And lately, even in the mornings.

10 or so days ago (start of March break), a Sunwing flight at 7am was parked at a remote stand to go down south. No choice, not enough gates at YUL. Not a good sign, when you start using remote gates early in the morning.

Also, from what I've been told, transborder flights aren't allowed to use remote stands. USCPB is strict about that. Every US bound flight needs to be bridged at the transborder jetty. They won't allow remote stand ops to the US.

The transborder jetty is running out of room as well.

Yup. We have to jump through hoops to get a CBP waiver if we want to bring the crew to the remotes to take out ferry flights. Not worth the trouble, we just tow back to a US gate.

Last summer we had a few flights with no-step pax and no jet bridge available so we had to use the South pad, and let AccessAir play with their new Popemobile (the one that looks like a converted catering truck) to get those passengers out, and the rest with the stairs and Cobus, then we had to tow back to a gate for the outbound ops.

Toronto has released their numbers. Montreal officially shows the strongest annual increase in Canada.

Incredible how far away we are trailing Toronto in raw numbers. Annual change from pitiful numbers means nothing. A regional airport at the level of Calgary.
