Flair Airlines

Alberta is on fire. Flair has a competitor, a second ULCC.

Lynx Air, formerly known as Enerjet, has firm orders and lease agreements in place for 46 737 MAXs over the next seven years, with the first aircraft due to arrive in early 2022.

Flair seems to have added a regular flight now from Calgary. That adds to their flights from Edmonton, Vancouver, Halifax and Toronto. With the announcement from WestJet that they will concentrate on western Canada and minimize eastern flights, that is maybe opening up a opportunity for others.

Air Transat is also increasing its flights out west, having at times 2 daily flights to both Calgary and Vancouver.

That’s job security for me. Fewer WS flights ex YUL equals more DL service. We were worried Atlanta would offload transborder traffic to WestJet because of the upline/downline connections.

Flair has officially announced that as of today there will be 2 weekly flights from Kitchener-Waterloo to YUL. They are advertising fares of just over $30...as a teaser surely. If someone is going overseas from there, it would be far less hassle to go via YUL than to fight the traffic to Toronto.

Surely the AC CRJ-900s introduced to ATL DTW MSP must be more of a threat, though ? Not saying DL would leave the YUL market, because those are their three hubs for their own beyond traffic, but surely they might reduce frequency and/or capacity?

Nope. AC thought they’d play with the big boys and take a slice while DL was treading cautiously in restarting here, but they simply don’t have the staff to handle their overall expansion. They’re cancelling more of these three than they’re flying, and when they do get them in the air, they are leaving behind full carts of checked bags — often at the flight’s originally-assigned gate after the gate was changed hours earlier. Not trying to diss AC, but what you’re seeing on the news and over social media is the tip of the iceberg. It’s a mess.

Soon AC va noliser des paquebots transatlantiques pour palier aux manques d'avions. Trajet direct "sans escale".
