The work takes viewers inside Oudolf’s creative processes. Director Piper said: “In making the film, I didn’t appreciate the debate around whether a garden designer can be considered an ‘artist’. In my first encounters with Piet’s work at the Lurie garden in Chicago, I responded to it with the same wonder and curiosity that I have when I see art that I love. His work had a deeply moving impact on me, but I couldn’t articulate why, or how. Trying to chase that was the real motivation for making this film.” The film was released in 2017 and is in English and Dutch (with English subtitles) and runs at 75 minutes.
