A good example is Denver doing this, where they slashed corporate taxes and ever since doing that a few years ago, generated $130 million.

    You're talking about this program?

Do you have a source for that 130 million?

I have seen the same in my personal experience. I blame the fact that stores close at 5pm on weekends and 9pm on weekdays. It should be at least 11pm on weekdays and 9pm on weekends like in other areas. That way, people dont rush to leave at a given time to avoid traffic and can hang out longer. There is a considerable void of people after 9pm in old Montreal too.

I agree on this as well, stores should be opened later especially on weekends. Downtown has the right to do so since Coderre made it a 24/7 area in 2016 but noone has compiled yet. I would definitely make it 10:30-11pm M-F and weekends until 9 pm as well. I'm positive businesses will make sales if they are opened longer since there is demand for it, it's just laws get in the way.

I can look for a source online but I heard this face to face when I was at a business conference in Denver last year. They compiled charts and graphs of the progress they made and revenue as well.

    please do.

Somewhat related but it was in this video (3:13-3:55). It talks about the program more in-depth and potential revenue. I still have not found anything specifically about Denver though so it must be kept internally.

I think that if we want to maintain a vibrant downtown we need to remove the closing time limits. We should allow merchants to close late into the night. We should also have dedicated crews like in shopping centers keep the sidewalks and streets impeccably clean a la Singapore. even after a snow fall.

Coderre made it a tourist zone (everything can be open 24/7) but noone followed suit, unfortunately.
