I`ve already spoken about the challenges of YUL - deep south America (i.e Brazil, Argentina, etc). Logistically, these flights are a nightmare for aircraft utilization.

Realistically, only AC would launch YUL-Brazil/Argentina, and right now, AC doesn't have any long haul frames left to spare to launch new routes.

BOG is all we can hope for in South America at the moment.

How effective is Avianca in BOG for effective connections in South America?  Obviously, timing would be a big factor.

Pretty effective I`d say.

BOG handled 31 million passengers last year.  Avianca, along with its subsidiaries, have a huge network out of BOG to all the major and secondary South American cities.

If BOG-YUL does happen, expect similar timings to the new BOG-BOS route Avianca launched in June 2017. Incidentally, that is a 4x weekly A319 service as well.

Early afternoon departure from BOG (well timed for inbound connections), late night arrival in YUL. Return flight departs again past midnight, for an early morning arrival in BOG, prime time for onward connections to other S. American cities.

Obviously we love having the greatest possible capacity, but the annoucnement provides for A318/A319/A320/A321 service. It would be nice to see the occasional A318. I think it would be the first time at YUL.
