FlyboyMTL
Not really news, but seems TAP is receiving new A/C and they have YUL in the sights. https://jornaleconomico.sapo.pt/noticias/tap-vai-ter-mais-15-avioes-e-novas-rotas-no-proximo-ano-352378 1

Alexcaban
In an article released yesterday TAP still mentions Montreal as a route they are starting this year. Out of their plan to start 15 new routes by summer 2019, YUL is the last one to be announced. I guess it's a matter of time now. https://expresso.sapo.pt/economia/2019-01-17-Ha-15-novos-destinos-para-voar-a-partir-de-Portugal.-Veja-quais-sao?fbclid=IwAR0ZLpk-5Eq7moyi5V7AqXVCi06uKLqZ0rBVbfXwEueOyDXMDotHdMe-SFI#gs.PBEvmcP3 Quote There are fifteen direct routes opening this year. The Lisbon-Sao Francisco, Lisbon-Washington, Lisbon-Montreal (Canada) and Lisbon-Tel Aviv (Israel), TAP and Faro-Aarhus (Denmark) and Faro-Gothenburg (Sweden) by the Scandinavian company SAS. In Porto, the biggest number of news will appear, with Ryanair flying from "invicta" to Brest and Brive, in France, Alicante (Spain) and Venice (Italy). A Level, an Anglo-Spanish multinational, will make the Porto-Vienna connection, Volotea will operate the Porto-Bilbao route and Finnair the Porto-Helsinki line. thenoflyzone
Any official reason given? I would suspect delivery issues with the A321LRs. No frames have beeen delivered to TAP so far, and we know OPO-EWR is already getting 1 frame. Might be tight to announce LIS-YUL and have no frames to operate the route come June. WestAust
Il semble que ca soit pour 2020 que TAP fera la liaison LIS-YUL https://onemileatatime.com/tap-air-portugal-new-destinations-2020/

Between 18:30 and 21:30 YUL is extremely congested and if I was to guess, TAP would want to have a departure time at around 19:50 to be able to make connections in Lisbon work early in the morning.
