Well, as discussed, they’d only be chipping at origin traffic at those hubs because their US partner has a minimal — almost non-existent — reach from all three. Conversely, attracting some of the origin traffic to YUL would surely be thanks to their onward connection strengths here, which is DL’s Achilles heel thanks to WestJet’s lack of confidence at YUL. But for those not continuing downline after YUL, AC will be hard-pressed to convince Americans to choose them over DL, and AC will grab almost none of the lucrative business travel market as it rebounds.

Agreed. I think this is a good opportunity for right now. Down the road there are probably better uses for some of these aircraft but for now this works and helps feed AC international traffic.

Air Canada achète 26 nouveaux avions Airbus A321neo

Quote

mmmm hope Brussels airlines can ad BRU YUL like they wanted pre pandemic

During the summer of 2020, AC was to take over YYZ-BRU from SN, and the latter was supposed to start YUL. Obviously, the pandemic killed this plan.

So this is simply AC following through with their pre-pandemic plan. And yes, hopefully this includes SN starting YUL as well.

AC slowly easing into its summer schedule. As of today, flights to Tel Aviv and Saskatchewan revived. One extra daily flight to Los Angeles, SAN Francisco, and Charlottetown commence. Maybe others I didn’t  catch.
