Someone could correct me, but I believe the demand to travel to China is very low due to extremely harsh COVID controls in China.

My guess is that Chinese tourists will flood back here once the constraints are lifted. AC has Shanghai on next summers list...so, is that a pipedream or a realistic assessment of where we will all be in less than a year from now?

Comme l’étaient le vol en Roumanie et l’Écosse . Pour Bordeaux,Madrid et Nice,Air Canada dessert ces villes cet été ainsi que Air Transat

AC served OTP, BOD & MRS with rouge before covid and TLS was announced to start with mainline in summer 2020, but again the pandemic put that on hold. You'll probably see these routes back when AC gets their A321XLR.

A question along similar lines...Which airline will come back first? AC to Shanghai or Air China from Beijing?

AC to Shanghai in June (maybe earlier)

The biggest question here, is when will we see some announcement from ADM related to airport improvements airside on the terminal...this will be a big block going forward with an increase in flights and pax.  Runways not so much, but gate space is already at a premium.

Let them finish paving 24R first.

they closed the runway today at 1h30 pm. Emergency repair work needs to be done. Runway is unusable until tomorrow morning, at the earliest. We have been on single runway since 1h30 pm, ground delay program for YUL, the works…..

unacceptable.

Quebec construction projects at their best….it’s been 3 years they started resurfacing 24R. They should have done it in one shot. Instead, the current plan is a S**t show, and the runway still to be paved can’t handle the stress of heavies landing on it all day long. Hence these emergency closures in peak afternoon in a peak summer month.

Before they start any airside work expanding the terminal, they need to finish repairing both runways, and the way 24R has gone, it’s going to take ages to do 24L as well. Only then can they start work on the terminal. Don’t hold your breath.

don’t even get me started on the useless P4 parking they built and that is currently sitting empty. $80 million they dumped on that thing and it’s useless.

Bienvenue au Québec.

ADM needs to get its S**t in order. This is embarrassing.

Highly unlikely AC operates YUL-PVG, or even YYZ-PVG, next summer. Several analysts think China’s zero COVID policy will stick around until the end of 2023, maybe even 2024.

Anyways, you don’t want China to open up. AC would never have added YUL-DEL/BOG/CAI/CPH etc, if they could fly all their frequencies to PEK, PVG and HKG.

East Asia staying closed off far longer than Europe, has been a blessing in disguise for YUL.

No need to turn your very legitimate criticisms into stereotypical Quebec bashing!

With just two active runways, ADM planned a staggered four-phase 06L-24R project timed for off-peak/non-winter ops, and they've managed to adhere to the project's scheduled timelines, so I'm not sure you should be making parallels with traditional Quebec construction fiascos.  Also, if ADM had done 06L-24R it in one shot, then your complaint about yesterday's single runway ops would have been of a far greater magnitude. Just sayin'.

The runway work was/is a need. The terminal rebuild is a want, which unfortunately has been severely compromised due to COVID-related revenue shortfalls. Yes YUL needs expanded terminal facilities, so let's see what happens as airport revenues begin to recover. I do definitely agree with you about P4 though, it's built, let's use it!
