If you have ever purchased a bottle of wine or liquor at an SAQ outlet in the past three years you may be interested in this story.

A Montreal man has filed an application in Superior Court for a class action lawsuit against the SAQ seeking damages for abusive pricing practices.

Jean-Rene Jasmine says the SAQ's monopoly allows it to generate massive profits through overpricing.

The SAQ racked up 2.6 billion dollars in net sales last year. Gross margin was more than 1.4-billion.

Jasmin doesn't set a dollar figure for damages sought, but asks the court to make the calculations.
