  1. Hi, does anyone know which project this is? Looks like it's between Rue king and rue queen in Cité Multimedia. I can't seem to attach pictures now.
  2. Love that project! It's really unique and beautiful. If it gets shelved, I hope they borrow alot of those ideas for parc Mary griffin. I shall say no more in case this page gets locked too but it's a shame we can't have diversity of views on here anymore...
  3. Yes. And everyone will be talking about Rue Peel.. Except mtlurb lol. #bicyclesaga2020 #neverforget
  4. Traffic is not great but it really becomes a danger zone when the cadets control the lights.
  5. I'm no engineer but my rational was that they couldn't destroy that structure without compromising the integrity of the elevated highway. Perhaps they'll build a bridge over the basin so people cna get to the canal or future baseball stadium easily? Who knows. But there are pedestrian lights built into the elevated highway streetlights projecting onto this "future walkway". They've been projecting for ages now. At debris.. Dirt.. Gravel.. Stones.. Grass..
  6. They've started building the path now. But definitely a great waste of green (both grass and money). I understand if they do it on reclaimed land for a few years to let it settle but 6 weeks? Just can't find a reason more than a typical screw up.
  7. Really not a fan of these brutal walls. Not harmonious at all. I know it's more for functionality but wish they all looked like the more natural one - which is also immune from the scourge of vandalism.
  8. What's the purpose of this new structure on Rue Brennan? I thought the structure was being widened over Smith?
  9. This photo almost makes me wish the buildings had a facade design somewhat like the YOO (with less saturated blue glass but keeping the brown brick look of the surrounding buildings for the first 2 floors of course) . Might have even looked really nice from the highway but I'm still curious to see this "iconic mural" that will be visible from Pont Jacques-cartier.. Unless this design was already released somewhere..
  10. Just kidding btw but I do have to disagree with you. While I think Montréal has some really beautiful old buildings and certain buildings from the brutalist era that are timeless (like certain metro ceilings/atrium), I don't think the generic boxes coming up everywhere these days are the best potential such a creative city can put out. Just my opinion anyway. To each his own.
  11. Was getting worried for you. The negativity was missing. Glad your still alive and kicking
  12. Merci énormément de m'avoir appris ceci. I was talking to a friend in Singapore. They also build relatively boxy buildings but they find ways to make it interesting. Just hope we can do the same with some lighting or perhaps a nice "crown" structure to beautify it.
  13. Probably gonna get a waterfall of down votes (personally I don't care lol) but I find this building just overly imposing on the boulevard. Two towers of different heights would've been better. Just a personal opinion. But I think it makes the area very *caged in*.. Hopefully they'll have some creative lighting at least.. (also, I think this city needs some standards imposed on new buildings. Right now it looks like a free for all resulting in max building to land ratio.. Fine, that's the look of Griffintown but now it's eating into the old port.. A girl can dream 🙄)
  14. Neighborhoods look so much better when developers don't just build all the way to the sidewalk, pour asphalt to bridge the building to the street and "repair" the public property they destroyed with more asphalt ... But actually do some proper landscaping and put down some beauty around their buildings to tie into the surroundings. What a huge difference!
  15. Weren't some people in full blown "chiale" mode about the structures not integrating with the Costco roof not long ago? 😂😂😂
  16. The picture was loading from the bottom to top and for a moment, I thought those A/C units was the skyline of Griffintown. 😬
  17. 6 weeks ago, they put down new grass and today it's all been dug out again. Guess the money needs to move somehow..
  18. Does anyone Know what's happening to this spot where the Brennan on ramp used to be? Always found it odd that they didn't just continue the path to the canal. They put grass down instead but now they've blocked it off again. Just curious since it was a good place to let the dogs run a bit and now it's fenced off again.
  19. Next time someone comes to visit me in Montreal, I'll be sure to keep them away from this Costco parking lot. Better inform Yelp to remove this from the list of recommended must see destinations. It's not the Wuppertal Schwebebahn we all dreamed of 🙄 Major "faux pas" by not capturing the beauty of the Costco warehouse curves into the elevated railway structure.
  20. Magic? No. Coordination? Yes. I suppose delays and long extended breaks between phases may be something you're used to and perhaps I should to as I adopt this city. But it's been over a week and nothing has moved. I cannot tell you the amount of times they have dug up Peel, Ottawa, closed William, etc.. It just seems like they can coordinate work alot better. In a city with intense winters, making use of warmer weather as much as they can seems logical. They removed all the trees and closed off the street on Smith seasons ago and nothing happened there. My idea is that it would make sense if they coordinated all their work so that as one phase finished, the next started. Less road closures, less rental of equipment, less money on security - overall reduction of inconvenience to residents and costs to taxpayers. As I said, maybe I'm just not used to how they dig up a street and leave the site for months, or start an infrastructure project, close roads and leave it unworked for months.. And perhaps I should get used to it. As they say, when in Rome...
  21. No wonder this station is 2023. Nothing really seems to be happening. The dream would be that they built it quickly (they always used to say it would be sooo quick since it was above ground) so they can finally build that park and let that area breathe. Also, unrelated - it seems weird the city rebuilt the sidewalks of Ottawa west of Rue de la montagne Only to have construction already damaging it and replacing it with asphalt when streets like Shannon south of Ottawa look like a street in Syria.. Anyway - sorry for digressing. Bon vendredi mes amis ❤️
  22. The entire city builds cubes and boxes. Not just Griffintown. Sorry to break it to you.
