Un seul bémol dans ce concert d'éloges, car l'immeuble proprement dit est une réussite totale, c'est le nom de l'hôtel, Monville. On dirait du mauvais français. Maville aurait eu l'air ridicule sans doute. Au moins, l'établissement a un nom qui le distingue des autres.

Légitime et correctement français comme nom.

Je ne sais pas d’où vient l'inspiration du nom concernant l'hôtel, mais Monville est un nom existant, c'est -entre autres- un village de Belgique francophone.

'L'hôtel Monville a décidé de révolutionner le service hôtelier en ouvrant la porte toute grande à de nouvelles technologies. Situé à cinq minutes à pied du Quartier des spectacles et du Palais des congrès, cet hôtel quatre étoiles indépendant a ouvert ses portes il y a un mois à peine, mais, déjà, il fait parler de lui pour son audacieuse intégration technologique.

Car ici, les clients n'ont pas besoin de passer par la réception pour s'enregistrer. S'ils le souhaitent, ils peuvent passer directement à l'une des quatre bornes interactives à écran tactile. Quelques clics et les cartes magnétiques donnant l'accès aux chambres sont éjectées par des fentes situées sous les terminaux. Même chose pour le reçu imprimé. Durée de l'opération: une minute trente secondes, tout au plus.

«Les bornes permettent de faire gagner du temps aux clients plus pressés», explique Jean-Cédric Callies, directeur des ventes et du marketing de l'hôtel Monville.

«La réception traditionnelle a été conservée, mais le rôle des réceptionnistes a été modifié: ils travaillent davantage comme concierges, pour recommander des bars ou des restaurants, par exemple. Il faut savoir que pour nous, plus de technologie ne signifie pas moins d'employés pour servir les clients...»

Le R2D2 hôtelier

C'est toutefois le robot turquoise (qui n'a toujours pas été baptisé) qui est la véritable vedette technologique de l'hôtel de 269 chambres. Ce R2D2 hôtelier - clignotant et bip-bipant comme tous les robots de livres pour enfants - peut livrer aux chambres les plats froids commandés au restaurant. Équipé d'un système internet sans fil et de détecteurs, il peut commander lui-même l'ascenseur et se rendre seul aux chambres. Une fois à destination, il appelle la chambre pour avertir de son arrivée. L'ouverture de la porte de la chambre permet d'actionner une trappe située sur la tête du robot. Le repas est servi!

«Nous sommes le premier hôtel au pays à disposer de bornes pour l'enregistrement et d'un service de robot», dit M. Callies, en ajoutant que le robot a été conçu par une start-up de la Silicon Valley. Or, il est peut-être l'un des seuls éléments de l'hôtel dont les origines ne sont pas québécoises. Les propriétaires de l'hôtel, ceux-là mêmes derrière la relance de l'hôtel Gault, ont misé sur des produits (et le savoir-faire) québécois tant pour la décoration des lieux que pour le menu du restaurant ou les produits de toilette des chambres. Les fenêtres viennent de la Beauce, le granit de Péribonka, le savon des Cantons-de-l'Est...

Une artiste montréalaise, Valérie Jodoin Keaton, a aussi travaillé à la conception d'une vaste fresque composée de photographies d'époque de Montréal. À partir de l'été, un DJ officiera dans le hall pour les 5 à 7. D'ici là, Stingray (une autre entreprise montréalaise) se charge de la musique d'ambiance selon les heures de la journée.

À savoir: l'hôtel a aussi reçu une certification de Kéroul et dispose de 27 chambres accessibles aux personnes à mobilité réduite.'
