Canadiens closing their Hall of Fame at Bell Centre on Aug. 30

 

The Canadiens announced on Friday that they will be closing their Hall of Fame at the Bell Centre on Aug. 30 and that admission for fans will be free for the entire month of August.

 

In a news release, the Canadiens said the closing was “part of the extensive renovations planned to enhance the fan experience at the Bell Centre in 2015-16 and beyond.”

 

“In the coming months, as the real-estate development projects around the Bell Centre move forward, we will be in a position to proceed with a number of new initiatives, including the redeployment of Centennial Plaza,” Kevin Gilmore, the team’s executive vice-president and chief operating officer said in a statement. “This beautiful new site will serve as a permanent gathering place for years to come that celebrates the history of our team, from its greatest legends to its unforgettable conquests and unparalleled legacy. The Hall of Fame will close in order to offer new amenities to fans and clients during games, though we will be redistributing certain of its displays and assets throughout the building so that they can continue to be enjoyed. For those who have never visited the Hall, we invite them through the end of the month to experience it at no cost.”

 

The Hall of Fame opened in January 2010 as part of the Canadiens’ centennial anniversary with more than 200,00 fans visiting it since then.

 

The Canadiens announced that fans who loaned memorabilia to the Hall of Fame will be contacted in the coming weeks about having it returned.

Ça dit que les artéfacts seront dispersés dans le Centre Bell ou rendus à ceux qui les ont prêtés...

 

Donc fini un endroit où tout était centralisé. Au moins la Place du centenaire sera refait

Autrement si la demande se fait sentir, rien n'empêche de trouver un autre lieu approprié dans les alentours pour ouvrir une deuxième version de cette exposition populaire. Surtout qu'il y aura plusieurs nouveaux chantiers dans les années à venir dans le périmètre immédiat.

J'aimerais bien que le tout soit inclus dans un futur musée du sport québécois ou il pourrait y avoir une section entièrement dédiée au Canadiens, bien sur !

 

Je crois que cela aurait un impact plus large en terme de visibilité bien que le club de hockey n'en a pas vraiment besoin. Mais pour l'intérêt en général, aucun doute.
