It looks like a mini-Coney Island.

And the urban beach is supposed to be yet bigger again this year.

 

They hope to occupy the whole site (dépôt à neige) for the first time as well as to rethink and better utilize the spaces as well as concentrate a little more on uniform aesthetics and a global insertion into the site (pas évident avec la cloture et les contraintes et règlements de la ville). There will be also be more activités (volleyball....) and more shaded areas.

 

Although La Pépinière will not be actively participating at this point, community groups that I am involved in and other collectives are currently trying to get permission and funding to occupy a section of the 'Friche du MTQ' to the east of parc Bellerive closer to Frontenac. That is near the area where the cruise ships dock. I'll let you know more when and if it is confirmed. We have a few ideas on how to uplate the parc Bellerive too, and a major overhaul of the park and renovation of the Vespasienne is sheduled for 2018.

 

Most of these measures are tactical urbanism steps but never the less very important and necessary in taking back control of our window/view on the St-Lawrence river. I think the illumination of the bridge will attract people to this area year-round since the views are quite fantastic and people not really aware.

 

The last bit of land to conquer will be the U Haul parking lot just west of the bridge. The borough has put it on reserve since 2014 and have to decide what to do by October this year, but with the priorities set out in new Stratégie centre-ville expected to become public in the next few weeks I can't see how this will not be urgent business.

On pourrait éventuellement connecter avec une promenade (privée ) qui passera derrière U Haul / Molson pour joindre le parc linéaire/Belvédère du Chemin-qui-Marche autour de la rue Amherst et Le Solano. Nous sommes ensuite arrivé au Vieux Port.

Dévoilement des équipes lauréates de l’appel à projets du Village 2017!

Nous voulons d’abord souligner la qualitée exceptionnelle et le travail inspirant des 67 équipes qui ont concouru à l’aménagement du Village. Bravo! Le jury ne l’a pas eu facile, ça nous pouvons vous le dire! 18 propositions ont été retenues et 3 initiatives confirmés seront en incubation sur le site. Nous sommes ravis de vous dévoiler les bâtisseurs qui participeront à l’édification du Village! En bonus, 3 des planches retenues!

Soirée d'ouverture ! Village au Pied-du-Courant

Le Village au Pied-du-Courant est de retour pour l’été ! Venez fêter ça avec nous - comme d’habitude, on vous attend avec de la bouffe, de la musique, beaucoup de sable, du soleil et un bar bien rempli.

C’est aussi l’occasion de découvrir les nouveautés du site :
✶ La cantine autogérée avec snacks et repas végé (ou pas)
✶ La terrasse surélevée pour admirer les feux d’artifice

2 semaines avant l'ouverture régulière mercredi le 1 juin.   Mais il aura une ouverture spéciale le 17 mai pour l'illumination du pont

Le site est en chantier jusqu'à 1 juin mais ils ont ouvert pour la mise en lumière du pont mercredi.
