J'ai grandi avec le brutalisme : j'ai vu pire et non seulement je m'y suis habitué mais comme j'étais jeune j'ai absorbé ce type d'architecture -bref, ça me plait. J'vais pas virer fou mais c'est tout à fait acceptable. Il y a de beaux jeux de volumes et de retraits successifs.

De toute façon l'ensemble des terrains voisins en allant vers Ste-Catherine sera  éventuellement développé, elle finira par avoir des petites amies sur son quadrilatère. Espérons seulement qu'elles ne seront pas trop brutales?

trying way too hard to be interesting with all manner of seemingly random volumes and setbacks, all the while neglecting the basics: quality materials.

 

Came back to say: not sure why some of you call it brutalist. I see nothing in common here with great brutalist buildings such as the Boston city hall, or even our own Place Bonaventure (pre-defacing with random glass panels). None of these are typical brutalist features: the hanging arches, the relatively high percentage of glass and windows, the setbacks (ostensibly reminiscent of a time when such features were actual requirements for many buildings), the whole deconstructionist schtick. It reeks of wannabe-ism, of poorly thought-out imitation. That's it: it's postmodern. Botched, cheap-ass postmodern.

J’aime la base et la façade avec un peu plus de verre bien que oui elle soit incohérente dans ses formes .

Faux brutalisme, édifice post-moderne ? C'est beaucoup dire. Je ne crois même pas que cet édifice mérite une étiquette autre que bouche-trou, filler. Il n'est pas même générique, et au final on ne peut même pas dire que c'est une horreur... Avec la construction des édifices voisins, il va finir tout simplement par se fondre  dans le décor...
