A new hotel in the Birks Building downtown is preparing to open, and inside will be a French brasserie from the owner of the also-downtown, also-French resto Le Pois Penché.

Henri is the name of the new project, from Imad Nabwani, who took over Pois Penché several years ago. While the restaurant will be physically attached to the boutique Hotel Birks inside, it’s independent to the lodgings, owned by the same group as Hotel Le St-Martin on de Maisonneuve.

C'est quand même l'édifice Birks... un site patrimonial d'une valeur absolument exceptionnelle, soigné et de grand luxe.. avec un nouvel étage plutôt sobre.

Selon moi, l'étage ajouté, je le trouve pas mal cheap. Mais bon, l'édifice est tellement exceptionnel qu'on l'oublie...

J'aime beaucoup l'édifice initial, je trouve simplement l'agrandissement fade et l'ensemble peu harmonieux.

The Birks is incredible and if you pass by the restaurant  is fantastic beautiful ceiling

Agreed. I had lunch at the brasserie/resto, operated by Le Pois Penche. It is a fabulous space overlooking the square. Will surely be very popular.
