The renovations are nice and in my view have nothing to do with the lack of stores active there now. The fact that the office tower is half full some days and empty other days is the major reason why things are quieter. On the positive side the Cathcart really is busy many days and took up a lot of the storefronts along one of the walls. In addition to the pharmacy there’s a busy gym, a McDs,  Browns, Ecco, Starbucks, a few other boutique stores and jewelry. It’s not thriving for retail but it’s far from dead. That mall always depended heavily on office workers (pre pandemic many stores were closed on weekends) and the lack of office workers is the problem. I hope it can be revived as it’s an important part of the underground city. Would be nice to see the SAQ move there from a tunnel in gare centrale.

⬆️ SAQ will never move from the Gare Centrale which is a way better location, grabbing attention of travelers right away.

PVM has been clueless by letting go Renaud-Bray. What a bad business decision! They also cut the entrance on University/Cathcart which was a busy spot. Its still there but serves as a fire issue exit basically. Who are these idiots making such bad decisions? You would think Ivanhoe Cambridge knows better.

I'm at PVM almost daily, if not daily. It's not 3/4th boarded up, stop exaggerating. Shops are busy, restaurants are even busier and Cathcart is packed every single day. The restos on the 44th-46th are always packed, too. 

 

And it's also the holidays, most people are away right now... two weeks ago, I had clients from the U.S visit and they were impressed by the foot traffic underground.
