newyorkontario Posté(e) 23 août 2018 Partager Posté(e) 23 août 2018 (modifié) Low chance for return of (MLB) Expos baseball- and no shot for (NBA) basketball in Ville Marie According to this recent (August 20, 2018) National Post article: https://nationalpost.com/sports/basketball/nba/nba-in-montreal-another-pipe-dream/wcm/d13414c2-0c70-4a77-8e6a-47b9160c4c6d "The odds are stacked against the back of Major League Baseball because it would take $ 1 billion to get the project off the ground. That's $ 500 million for a stadium, a minimum of $ 400 million to secure a franchise and at least $ 100 million to meet bargain-basement payroll which has grown at least 10-fold since the Expos left town. " "The situation in the NBA is even more promising." The league has been shown to grow and demand for $ 1 trillion. "And Montreal would be behind Seattle, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, Mexico City, Louisville and Las Vegas in the line for a franchise."

Habsfan Posté(e) 24 août 2018 Partager Posté(e) 24 août 2018 when will we learn to not believe anything in the national Post!? It's an anti-Montreal and an Anti-Québec newspaper! 12 hours ago, Malek said: He's right, there's no basketball culture here, NFL and baseball are way more popular in Montreal. Agreed. I don't think the Basketball culture is big enough in Montreal for an NBA team. MLB and the NFL are way more popular! Exposteve Posté(e) 24 août 2018 Partager Posté(e) 24 août 2018 This article was written by Pat Hickey, long-time beat writer for the Habs for the Gazette. He is good on the Habs beat but has limited credibility with regards to anything related to MLB or the NBA. This is an opinion piece with little weight to it, and with all due respect to Pat Hickey he is not in any way informed on these matters, especially with regards to MLB. How many confirmations do we need from Bronfman of the money being there to get past that question? The issue remains in the hands of MLB and whether they decide to relocate a team or proceed with expansion.
