  1. According to Qatar airlines today, they plan on adding additional routes to Montreal next summer. They will be using the 777-300ER with 358 seats. Currently they have 3 flights a week. Does anyone know how many additional flights they will add?
  2. According to my calculations, as of today’s announcement by Air China, and excluding charter-type flights, next summer is already looking very positive. 1. Air China is doubling its number of weekly flights to Beijing from 3 to 6. 2. Aero-Mexico is adding 4 weekly flights to Mexico City for a total of 11 weekly. 3. AC is introducing a daily flight to Shanghai, 4. AC is introducing 4 weekly flights to Alger. 5. AC to Casablanca will now be daily (an addition of 3 weekly) 6. Tunisair is adding 1 flight a week to Tunis for a total of 3 weekly 7. WOW will be going daily to Reykjavik, an addition of 3 weekly flights. 8. Air Algerie is adding 2 weekly flights to Alger for a weekly total now of 10 9. Air Algerie is introducing 2 weekly flights to Oran. I count a total of 244 weekly international flights now confirmed for this coming summer, which is 32 more than last summer. This includes 24 scheduled daily flights; up from 20 dailies last summer. So far there is no news of cancelations or reductions. Surely we can expect even further good news between now and summer!
  3. Under heavy renovation at the moment. They are adding new street-level locations despite 75% availability (only the SAQ remains) and the Stylexchange failure. Will they shake off the cockroach stigma? This next picture shows flooring being put on top of the old bagel place. New Taiwanese place where Grumman used to be

  6. http://www.westislandgazette.com/news/28915 Dorval considering options for major facelift City wants public input on its draft of master urban plan Albert Kramberger The Gazette Wednesday, March 14, 2012 The city of Dorval is looking to make a few changes in how it looks - everything from revitalizing its waterfront to giving Dorval Ave. a facelift. The next step in preparing a new sustainable master urban plan is a public consultation set for March 26. The city has prepared a draft of its master plan, a general statement of the direction the city should follow over the next two decades regarding development, zoning and quality of life concerns as well as promoting and encouraging "greener" options. It now hopes to gauge input from citizens before adopting the formal version later this fall, said Mayor Edgar Rouleau. Among its proposals, the city aims to make its waterfront along Lake St. Louis more user-friendly and animated, possibly installing outdoor exercise equipment at Millennium Park. As well, it will consider purchasing select private lands near existing cityowned sites, like the Forest and Stream Club, should they ever come on the market, the mayor said. "There are sites along Lakeshore that may, in five or 10 years, become available and the council should at that time evaluate if it's worthwhile to acquire," Rouleau said of potentially adding to publicly owned space along the lake. "Is it going to expensive? As you know, yes." While the city is also looking at encouraging highdensity residential develop-ment, especially around the Pine Beach and Dorval train stations and along Bouchard Blvd., it will have to be measured in light of respecting the single-family home residential character in much of the city. There is also a goal to reverse an aging demographic trend by attracting young families and immigrants, the latter of which are expected to account for more than 30 per cent of Dorval's population by 2024. As of 2011, Dorval had about 18,615 residents and approximately 8,000 households, with an additional 2,000 housing units envisioned by the city within a decade, including more affordable housing. "Residents want the population to increase, but they don't want to lose that residential sector that we have," Rouleau said. "We're not going to change that, except those few big lots we have, like the one at the corner of De la Presentation and Lakeshore, which will soon be developed," he said. The city also aims to revitalize the commercial area on Dorval Ave. and make it more attractive. For example, by allowing outdoor terraces, and making it safer for both pedestrians and cyclists. A study has already been commissioned to prepare some proposals, the mayor said. "We want it more friendly, but the challenge is that we cannot widen the road," Rouleau said of Dorval Ave. "Whatever we extend, we have to take it from somewhere else. Right now it's two lanes each way with an island in the middle and sidewalks on both sides," he said, adding that perhaps the avenue could be reduced to one lane in each direction with a narrow median strip to allow for something like a bike path.
  7. Does anyone know what the status is on the construction that was being done in the Olympic Stadium tower? http://www.busac.com/index.php?lang=an&sect=3&offset=0&region=5&id=5733552 Judging by the 3D tour http://www.busac.com/previz/on the Busac Real Estate site, it looks like they are planning to remove some of the concrete panels on the side of the tower and replace them with more windows. Thus creating 20 floors of office space. The floor spaces in the tour were built with very high ceilings and windows that were much to high. I wonder if and how many floors they might be adding to fill up these large rooms. If anyone has anymore info on this project or pictures of construction of any part of the Olympic Complex I would be very interested. All Pictures are from Busac Real Estate www.Busac.com
  8. I have created a KMZ (Google Earth) file showing some proposed and confirmed development plans for Montreal. Feel free to Download it and give me your comments. 9. Thursday, August 23rd, 2007 Areva T&D Canada adding 94 jobs as it consolidates operations near Montreal Canadian Press MONTREAL (CP) - Areva T&D Canada is adding nearly 100 new jobs as it consolidates its Canadian operations in La Prairie, Que., southwest of Montreal. The energy company said the plant will be expanded by March 2008, primarily to meet the new needs of its systems business unit. "The consolidation will make it possible to better meet the needs of our clients, present and potential, and increase of commercial synergies in a market where reaction and response time are essential to success," president Greg Farthing said in a release. "Furthermore, this reorganization will help us to respond to a growing number of clients who want integrated turnkey solutions consisting of products manufactured by several business units." The Quebec plant will eventually house more than 300 employees. A facility in nearby St-Leonard will be closed. The company said the consolidation follows the launch of its new systems group business unit, HT shop layout, acquisition of new tools for the production of high-tension circuit breakers and disconnectors, implementation of new manufacturing software and the strengthening of its sales force in Canada. Areva provides technological solutions for carbon dioxide-free power generation and electricity transmission and distribution. The Canadian company is a division of French nuclear giant Areva.
