Are you gonna tell me that a magic tunnelbus that requires passengers to embark and disembark from a hatch in the roof from large, unsightly flying-saucerlike bus stations built over major thoroughways is going to cost as much as building a tramway, a tried-and-true transit installation popular on all continents and in countries much poorer than ours? J'ai adopté ce ton parce que tu as clairement indiqué que tu te fous de la qualité de ton écriture. Ton attitude démontre amplement que le danger qui guette la langue française au Québec ne vient pas de l'extérieur. Cette nonchalance linguistique nous mène lentement vers un patois que l'on écrira phonétiquement. Mé bon, cé toujour la fot au zanglé! néssepa?

Videotron offers great speed, with low ping times and no lag in surfing while you're downloading (unlike Bell). However, their monthly data usage of 30 GB is extremely low, and they really screw you over with so many extra fees... I had switched to a DSL wholesaler, but their connection was crap and they didn't seem to give a damn. Bell then made me an offer I couldn't refuse. With 90 GB of usage, I've come close, but I haven't yet needed more. I also cancelled my illico cable with Videotron. I refuse to give these fuckers another dime of my money!

This is what I get with Bell's Fibe. My package is 16 Mbps/800 kbps, with a usage cap is much higher than Videotron's. With the landline, it's cheaper than anything Videotron could offer me.

Mais ce n'est pas toujours le cas. Quand Harper a voulu proroger le parlement pour éviter de se faire défaire par les partis d'opposition, la Gouverneur Générale lui a exigé des explications et l'a gardé chez elle pendant près de deux heures avant qu'elle n'approuve. Si elle avait refusé (et c'était son droit), elle aurait eu le choix d'inviter Stéphane Dion à former un gouvernement avec le NPD ou provoquer des élections anticipées. Comme le Parti libéral et le NDP, ensemble, avaient moins de sièges que le Parti conservateur et qu'elle croyait sans doute qu'il était trop tôt pour renvoyer les Canadiens aux urnes, elle a décidé d'accepter le moindre mal: la prorogation du parlement. Ce qui a permis à cette idée de coalition de perdre son élan. Comme Mme. Jean n'est pas élue, et qu'elle ne représente aucun parti politique, c'est l'intérêt du pays qui prime au dessus des intérêts partisans. Si on avait eu un président élu, l'inverse se serait produit. Alors, encore une fois: Dieu protège la Reine ! Vive la Reine !

Oh, please! I'm all for maintaining the monarchy, but that argument is silly and frankly insulting. There are other ways of justifying the continuation of the monarchy without implying that English Canadian revolves around it and nothing else. I prefer a monarchical system because it places our head of state above the crassness of politics. While it is rare that the Queen or Governor General make use of their reserve power, it's happened as recently as this year. And I find it comforting that our head of state can make important decisions based on the best interest of the country and on the preservation of our constitutional practices, rather than on partisan motives. Dieu protège la Reine!

Cataclaw was talking about a single promoter building one tower instead of three on a single plot. Your argument is irrelevant. If the amount of floor space is the same, it's the same density, no matter how tall the building is. As for Cataclaw's argument that we need 40+ storey office buildings to make public transit worthwhile: you're on crack! -

Thank you for stating the obvious! You think the building of office space in Montreal is dead now, it'll only be deader once we start adding ridiculous zoning requirements! The fact is, Montreal's office space downtown is cheap. This is at the same time a blessing and a curse: a blessing because it lowers costs for businesses, a curse because it makes real estate investment unprofitable. The prices don't justify building massive office buildings, and no silly minimum height requirement is going to change that. When you talk of building one 40-storey tower instead of three 13-storey towers, Cataclaw...you basically want to impose a drastic increase in construction costs for any promoter. Bravo! I applaud your sense of business! Now please answer me this...how the fuck does one 40-storey tower on a plot make more "efficient" use of infrastructure than three 13-storey buildings? How on earth does that work? -
