  1. I understand your reasoning. But the commercial streets (Saint-Denis, Saint-Laurent...) of the Plateau are struggling because suburban Montrealers are staying away and decide to shop in, for example, Laval because it is so much easier to access. The Plateau has to create parking lots in form of public car parks and at the same time create pedestrian streets... The commercial streets in the Plateau won't survive from just the consumption of the residents of the Plateau...
  2. Thank you very much. Anybody else with good subcontractor?
  3. Instead of making a park they should think about building a public car park with reasonable prices... It is impossible to find parking places on the Plateau!
  4. I just recently moved from Spain to Montreal and I am planning de build a 6-plex in Montreal (Saint-Marie area) with a nice unit where I can live with my wife. Having managed construction projects for over 10 years before coming to Montreal I would like to subcontract the project myself. Unfortunately, I am new to the city so I don't have an overview of good architects and subcontractor or companies I should rather avoid. Of course, I will ask my future architects to help me with the subcontracting, but I know that the quotes that the architects receive are always the highest... I am sure that many of you work in construction or are even architects themselves and are able to recommend some reliable subcontractor that do good work for each element of the building (e.g. architects, engineers, demolition, foundation, roofing company...) It would be great to have a list of companies you have worked with and that you would recommend. Many thanks in advance, any help is highly appreciated.
