  1. When I posted the suggestion, it wasn’t intended as a solution to today's issues.
  2. If we are talking about tearing buildings down, then why is a modification to the bottom floor of the Queen E a stretch?
  3. If I was going to reconfigure the station, I would use Belmont Street itself as the main hall with dramatic entrances at each end–one on Mansfield and the other on R-B. There would also be an arm that stretches to R-L with another dramatic entrance in line with the McGill axis.
  4. Will this be taller than the Desjardins south tower?
  5. I'm thinking if you're back far enough and on the east side of the street you will be able to see the tower, if not the crane, at some point.
  6. Is this tower visible at all from McGill College Avenue yet?
  7. Does anyone remember an earlier proposal for this site? I think it might have been a hotel that was a little taller than the one under construction. It might also have fronted on the square.
  8. What a great representation of architectural styles from different eras!
  9. Like the Stock Exchange Tower, sitting on lower ground than buildings on Rene Levesque helps the illusion.
  10. I don't think it is fair to compare the 2 versions if we are basing it on renderings of uneven quality.
  11. The way I see it, the east tower will rise two stories higher than the west tower. The other two stories are due to the lower grade level on Jeanne Mance. Does this make sense?
  12. Maybe we should think of the height in terms of feet instead of meters.
  13. Another way to look at it is 800 is closer to the boulevard than 900. It is the VSLP and 900 that are equidistant from the boulevard. In the pictures above, VSLP doesn't look as tall as it should.
  14. Saint-Jacques will compete well at the high end. However, if you increased the total number of towers to 25, then Blvd René-Lévesque starts to rule.
  15. I got nine levels from the bottom of the diamond to the top on both the model and the construction pictures that Rocco posted.
  16. Count the levels starting at the first setback in both the model and "reality".
  17. That is a pet peeve of mine too. If you click the link to another page within the same thread, it should bypass the pinned post at the top.

    REM de l'Est

What are all those people doing on top of the wall? Do they think they can get on the REM from there?

    REM de l'Est

Is the Jeanne Mance Wall really going to attract people like it shows in the rendering?
  20. I might be wrong, but I suspect that the top floor above the red panels of phase one is where the connector will be. I looked back at some pictures over the last few months and noticed that the red panels normally surpassed the height of the building. The current top floor looks different.

    REM de l'Est

Maybe I missed it, but did he address the controversy over the downtown segment in the video? That, as currently proposed looks like the deal breaker to me.
  22. Which station is Gare Central (on REM A)?
