    YUL 747 Airport Bus

Hello everyone, I'm an airline employee and a big proponent of YUL and it's future development. Lately I have been using Toronto's public transit system to get to the airport. Even though not as developed as ours, their subway, combined with the new 192 Airport Rocket, is really a winning combination, and has made me really step back and take at look at YUL and our airport access (just a bit better than terrible). From Kipling station the Airport Rocket is a 15 minute express bus from a metro directly to Terminal 1, 3 and Airport road near the hotels. Now before you start, yes, I know Montreal has this too in our 747 bus, directly from Lionel Groulx. However, the difference lies in that the Toronto express bus is part of their transit system, and only costs 3.00$, and a transfer from anywhere else in the network is valid. Why on earth would we charge 10$ for such a service?!?! It should almost be free! Anyway, I just wish the STM would make the 747 a regular bus line with a regular fare and transfers from the other parts of the network accepted, then we could call our airport SOMEWHAT accessible. And don't even get me started on the fact they now have direct train access......argh Rant Over.

    Transat suspending YUL-TLV

I would be very surprised if they fully abandon the A330s as they`re still pretty cheap for them to operate...and if they totally get rid of them, they can forget prime routes like CDG, LGW, FCO where competition is stiff. Furthurmore, without having actual numbers, i`m sure the A330 economy of scale provides a better CASM in some cases than with A321s. Time will tell though I suppose.

    Air Canada S19 service changes

More expensive to operate is not totally an accurate statement. When compared to newer 787/777 the 330 CASM on the shorter TATL routes was found to cheaper and more efficient than the new, high capital cost Boeing A/C. The 787/777 are much better utilized on longer segments with more J demand. The 330 seems to be the perfect A/C for the segments out of YUL, and right now there's a good amount coming onto the market for cheap with the A350 and A330neo's coming into the picture. 20 years old and turning to be very useful as part of A/C strategy!

Perhaps we can start a separate thread where people can share all their trips, and keep this one focused on the subject.

    Navcanada ?

An old topic, but thought i'd weigh in. NavCanada uses Dash-8-100 and CRJ-100 aircraft to test and calibrate approaches (ILS, LOC, VOR, NDB) and Nav Aids throught it's system. You will often see them doing multiple approaches with go-arounds and quick turn outs to complete another approach in succession. They're usually flying it at quite high speed as they aren't planning on landing. This is all a normal part of maintaining and monitoring the accuracy of the approach guidance systems. Hope that helps!

    Special Visitors

This morning (May 30) there was an A310 which looked like it was from the French government at the de-icing pad. This afternoon, a different flag carrier's AC was at the de-ice pad. Anybody know if these are visits in the lead-up to the G7 in La Malbaie next week? Cheers

    Taxiway B work in Spring/Summer 2018
